STILL 4.4 BILLION UNCLAIMED
Remember those offensive TV adverts about benefit fraud? What the government
doesn't tell you is that the amount of unclaimed benefit comes to between
£2 billion and £4.4 billion a year; and that doesn't include disability
benefits. That's between two and four times what they pay out in fraudulent
claims. Kind of puts fraud into perspective, doesn't it? Do you think
government agencies, filling their wellies with taxpayers money, will
put adverts on the TV telling us how to claim the right benefits?
MORE 2/3 HOMES FOR THEM AND FOR US?
Plans for Liverpool's first £1m luxury penthouses have been deferred.
The reasons being that lending institutions don't like giving money to
buildings with mixed uses such as offices etc. Though the plans to build
the £1Million penthouses are still to go ahead. The developers, a Mr.
McLean and we think MDHC, are at present spending £150 Million on developing
the docks.
At present the most expensive penthouses are £500,000 at Beetham Plaza,
on the city's nearby Strand. These are owned by Beethams.
I wonder how many community centres, how many facilities; local communities
could get with this money? Do we notice any local people gaining from
these projects? Ever feel like a ghost in your own city?
PROFESSIONAL TERRORISTS
A solicitor who terrorized homeowners in Liverpool by threatening to re-possess
their properties was yesterday fined £25,000.
He targeted homeowners who owed as little as £6.50 in Liverpool, Newcastle
and Manchester saying they now owned £250. Lenders terrorfied of losing
their security often paid up.
Terry Hodge, of Wavertree, said he owed £11.54 in ground rent but was
given a bill for £256.66. "I thought it was a scam. I had never been sent
a demand, " he said.
Stevenson devised the "intimatory" letters when working for Simarc Property
Management and its associated companies, which had acquired properties
in the North and wanted them assessed by him.
Some people rob you with a gun some with a fountain pen. We know and our
readers know that, loads of these professionals are scamming money out
of ordinary people by sending demands on flashy headed notepaper. We aim
to expose these university-educated gangsters. contact PNP.
COUNCIL CHUCKING KIDS OUT
Local residents are fighting the council over plans to close down a nursery
in Faulkner Street and Chatsworth Street in the city centre. The council
are claiming they are only carrying out 'urgent repairs'. But after the
council closed down 3 other nurseries in the area, residents have wised
up to them. The protesters say they will not give up their fight easily.
